Apart from that picture, this post has nothing to do with the monsoons.
But this post is about a raindrop. A raindrop that is a bookmarking tool.
Raindrop is a Pocket alternative.
And a very decent one at that.
Raindrop.io was kind of in a slumber for quite some time. I think the developers had stopped building on it for a while. But, it looks like Raindrop has their attention once again. They recently released a Raindrop 5.0 Beta version.
So, basically, Raindrop does everything that Pocket does for you. You can save articles and links, create categories or links, both have a mobile app and browser extensions. Choosing between them is pretty much a function of the UI you prefer.
I prefer Pocket for one simple reason - it’s easier to save links to Pocket on the phone. With Raindrop, there are 4-5 steps involved in saving an article on phone, which is 3-4 too many.
Anyway, you might still prefer Raindrop, especially with its new set of features:
It’s supposed to be very fast and uses very less memory
Easy search to quickly find whatever you want
A sidebar you can customize as per your needs
Smart autocomplete of tags for better bookmarking
There’s a lot more. Go check it out.
